Options University

Some finance websites that have resources about options trading refer to these resources as options university. There is also a business focused on teaching investors about options trading is called Options University.

According to their website, the company was founded in 2004 by Brett Fogle. They offer a variety of courses at different levels from a home study course for beginning investors to advanced mastery courses for experienced investors.

At the time that this article was written, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) had revoked their accreditation of that company. Some consumers shared concerns about that company on a forum about scams.

The company is registered with the Southeast Florida and Caribbean Better Business Bureau. Investors should consider consulting the current Better Business Bureau standing.

Most consumers find it better to use resources from trusted companies and professionals. There are many different types of lessons available for people who want to learn about options trading.

The resources on the websites of options exchanges and investment brokers often have free educational resources categorized by experience level. The beginner’s level of one website is called “Rookie” while the advanced educational resources are called “Veteran.”

An option university of educational resources may have tutorials, articles, online courses, webinars, software, and seminars. Some companies and options exchanges offer classes and seminars on site. A class at an options exchange may include a tour of the exchange.

Some educational tools teach users how to analyze options to identify profitable trading opportunities. Many investors use different analysis methods. Some use the option greeks to determine if an option is a good investment.

Some finance websites offer a free options calculator. Using the options calculator, the investor can enter the ticker symbol of the option and receive important information like the option greeks and implied volatility.

Software that simulates options trading can be used to learn more about options. Beginner investors can use the virtual options trading software to practice techniques that were learned with other resources like articles and tutorials.

It is understandable for someone who is new to options to feel overwhelmed by options trading. Becoming proficient in options trades involves learning the vocabulary, analysis methods, and trading strategies as well as knowing when to execute trades.

Some people become discouraged and avoid this potentially profitable investment vehicle. Some investors rush into trading on their own and give up after losing money without really understanding why they lost money or how they could limit their risk.

Investors who want to learn by trading options rather than spending a considerable amount of time studying options trading may want to look for a mentor. A mentor is typically an expert in the field who strives to teach others.
